Breaking Down The Walls

A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

Welcome, and thank you for visiting Breaking Down the Walls. My name is Laura and I am a fully qualified and insured person-centred counsellor based within Southport, Merseyside. I hold a MSc Psychotherapy and Counselling; contemporary and creative approaches and a Level 5 Diploma in Casework Supervision. I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Counselling and therapy in a safe, comfortable and private setting

Life brings many challenges and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. My role as a psychotherapist and counsellor, is to support you on your journey of self-discovery; enabling you to explore how you experience your life and begin to make new, meaningful choices within it.

My training allows me to work with you at relational depth; enabling you to remove the masks that you may present to the rest of the world as you access your innermost thoughts and feelings. This may help you to begin to understand underlying causes of issues and emotional triggers while being supported to identify your own solutions.

My work is always based upon client needs and preferences, and in order to offer an holistic approach, creative methods may be explored including elements of expressive art, play, movement and drama therapy techniques.

I work with clients from all walks of life and backgrounds, who come to me with a diverse range of problems. I have experience working with clients right across the lifespan, having worked in primary and secondary schools, colleges, universities, community services and of course in my private practice.

I have particular experience working with neurodiversity; individuals living with ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia and more.

As a fully qualified counsellor, I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of practice.

Speak in confidence

Sessions involve meeting in a safe space, where you will be seen and heard with sensitivity, empathy and without judgement. This time is for you to bring which ever worries and problems you may have, when you need to, and at your own pace. Together we can find the best way to navigate through.

A problem shared...

Often people will share that for many reasons, they hold feelings in, ignore them, or try to hide/escape from how they truly feel by using unhelpful coping mechanisms. By sharing what’s going on for you, we can work together to explore what it is you need to begin moving in a more positive direction.

Make better, healthier new choices

By exploring your experiences together, self awareness and understanding often grows, leading to new insights moving forward. Sessions often help to articulate your wants and needs, helping you to make decisions and plans for moving forward.
